Blue Green Algae

To whom it may concern

Hi my name is Gary Strange and I am the Chairperson of Roche Angling Club. I am writing to inform you that we have had notification from the EA (Environment Agency) that Treskilling Pit has tested positive for Blue Green Algae, it is usually the case it runs its course and then disappears. This Algae can appear in any lake from time to time and so could also appear in the Small Pool adjacent to the pit.

I am writing to make you aware of the situation, and ask that this notification is reproduced in any sort of Newsletter or Council Meeting Minutes that you produce. Dog walkers may still use the circular route as normal but please be aware of the situation. Dog walkers are asked as always to keep their animals under control and out of the water, if this advice is adhered to animals should come to no harm. Any animals entering the water and especially drinking from it may experience some sickness.

We will be placing temporary warning signs on all of the pedestrian gates that give access to both lakes.

We would like to thank you in advance and hope that the algae will soon disappear without the need for chemical treatment.

Yours Sincerely

Gary Strange

R.A.C. Chairperson
